Airports

Manhattan Regional Airport offers commercial, private and corporate air service at its modern terminal. The airport features direct non-stop daily jet service to Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago O’Hare.

Lawrence Municipal Airport is located just off I–70 and averages more than 100 daily flight operations of single/twin and business jets with its 5,700 foot runway. The airport offers a complete range of aviation services.

Topeka’s two airports service both local and general aviation. Its largest airport, Forbes Field, has a 12,800 foot runway and accommodates air cargo and package express aircraft from national firms.

Rail

Rail service is provided by two carriers – the Union Pacific and BNSF Railways. Piggyback service is available within a 60-mile radius. Amtrak service and stations are located in both Topeka and Lawrence, providing convenient passenger rail service.

Roads

Kansas roads are ranked fourth in the nation in quality. I–70 is the only interstate running west from Lawrence into Colorado. Major highways run all directions through Kansas and have attracted more than 20 inter- and intra-state carriers to the region.

Kansas ranks in the Top 10 for states with the lowest average commute time for employees. While travel time varies in each city, our region averages employee travel time of about 17 minutes, well below the national average.
